Statement of Faith
About God
I believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three Persons - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are one God, having the same nature and are worthy of the same worship, confidence, and obedience.
God the Father
I believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. I believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of humankind, that He hears and answers prayer and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. I believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. I believe in His atoning death, His victory over Satan and demons, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal return to earth.
The Holy Spirit
I believe in the Holy Spirit, who was sent from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. I believe that the Holy Spirit lives within every believer in Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide.
The Word of God
I believe that the Bible is the Word of God, written by human authors under the supernatural inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Christian believers receive spiritual illumination by the power of the Holy Spirit, to enable them to understand the Scriptures rightly, relying on the Scriptures as the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
Humanity
I believe that God created humankind male and female to bear his image and reflect his character to the rest of creation, thereby bestowing dignity, value and worth on every individual. Through disobedience to God, humanity fell into sin and, apart from God’s intervening grace, remains spiritually dead in trespasses and sins, completely dependent on the mercy of God for salvation.
Salvation
I believe that all people are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. I believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Saviour are regenerated by the Holy Spirit.
The Church
I believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members. I believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, and associated for worship, work and fellowship.
The Lord’s Supper
I believe that The Lord’s Supper is a memorial and proclamation of the death of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is to be participated in by believers until Christ’s return.
Water Baptism
I believe that Water Baptism signifies the believer’s identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.
Gifts of the Spirit
I believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are active today and a gift from God to the Church for the edification of believers and advancement of His kingdom.
Marriage
I believe that marriage, as instituted by God, is a covenant union of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others until death.
Sexuality
I believe that sex is a gift from God designed to be experienced in the context of a covenantal marriage between a man and woman. I believe that our sexuality is a part of our God given nature and the stewardship of our sexuality (as a single or married person) is part of our discipleship to Jesus.
Christian Conduct
I believe that a Christian should live for the glory of God and the well-being of humanity; that their conduct should be blameless before the world; that they should be faithful stewards of their possessions; and that they should seek to realize for themselves and others the full stature of maturity in Christ.
The Last Things
I believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom in fullness. I believe in the resurrection of the body, the eternal joy of the believer, and the final judgment of the unrepentant.
